1. About This Platform

paros.is is a free, non-commercial platform dedicated to photographic and poetic expression connected to the island of Paros, Greece. Each submission can contain a single photograph and/or a short original text in the form of a haiku, a verse, or a brief poem. It exists as a shared creative space with no advertising, no subscriptions, and no monetization. Submissions are reviewed and published solely at the discretion of the platform administrator.

2. Submission License

By submitting a photograph and accompanying text to paros.is, you grant the platform a perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and format your submitted work on this platform and in any future form it may take.

You retain full copyright ownership of your work. This license does not restrict you from publishing or licensing your work elsewhere. However, once a submission has been accepted and published, you waive any right to request its removal from paros.is.

3. Originality & Rights

By submitting, you confirm that:

• You are the sole author and copyright holder of the submitted photograph.
• The work does not infringe upon any third-party intellectual property rights.
• If the photograph features identifiable individuals, you hold the necessary consent for their image to be published publicly.
• The work has not been created using AI image generation tools.

4. Content Standards

Submitted work must meet the following criteria to be considered for publication:

• Paros relevance: The photograph must be visually and thematically connected to Paros — its landscape, light, people, architecture, sea, or atmosphere.
• No offensive content: Submissions must not contain nudity, graphic violence, political messaging, hate speech, or commercial promotion of any kind.
• No pre-existing overlays: Photographs must not contain heavy watermarks, logos, or embedded text applied prior to submission. The platform applies its own attribution formatting.
• Technical minimum: The longest side of the image must be at least 1920 pixels. Heavily compressed or low-quality files will not be accepted.
• Accompanying text: The text submitted alongside the photograph must be original, brief (haiku-length), and free of offensive language, slurs, URLs, or promotional content.

5. Display Name & Signature

Contributors may choose any display name, including a nickname or pseudonym. Display names must not contain offensive language, slurs, or impersonate real individuals or organisations. The platform reserves the right to modify or reject any name that does not meet this standard.

6. Platform Discretion

paros.is reserves the right to refuse, edit the formatting of, or remove any submission at any time, without obligation to provide a reason. Submission does not guarantee publication. There is no appeal process.

7. Print & Hosting Sustainability

paros.is operates without advertising or subscriptions. To sustain hosting and domain costs, the platform may in the future offer published photographs as prints through a print-on-demand service. In such cases, the original photographer will receive full attribution but no royalty, as the submitted work is covered under the license granted in Section 2. This intent is stated here transparently as part of the submission agreement.

8. Image Protection & Download Policy

All photographs published on paros.is are displayed with technical measures in place to discourage unauthorised saving or downloading. These measures are intended as a reasonable deterrent for casual misuse and are provided as a courtesy to contributing photographers.

However, paros.is does not guarantee and cannot ensure complete protection against all methods of image retrieval. Users with technical knowledge may still be able to access displayed images through browser tools or other means. By using this platform, you agree not to reproduce, download, or repurpose any photograph displayed on paros.is without the explicit written consent of the original photographer.

The responsibility for enforcing copyright in cases of unauthorised use rests with the copyright holder. paros.is will cooperate in good faith with any takedown or misuse report submitted by a verified contributor.

9. Visitor Conduct

Visitors to paros.is may not reproduce, download, redistribute, or repurpose any photograph or text displayed on this platform without the explicit written permission of the respective copyright holder. The platform’s design, structure, and identity are the property of paros.is.

10. Changes to These Terms

These Terms of Use may be updated at any time. Continued use of the platform following any revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. They were last updated on April 16th 2026.
